Every year, alumni groups from Dartmouth get together and travel to different countries. The group travels in order to gain valuable experience about the culture, food, people and politics of the country. Every year, the group brings a unique gift for the host country. Many alumni companies and students choose to take on a different type of assignment.
For example, the alumni staff often chooses to travel to a place in Asia where they can teach English or study a specific religion. This gives the students a chance to experience a new way of life in an exotic environment. Other groups visit places that have a great deal of history like Africa and Latin America. This type of trip is very exciting for students because they get to see the true history of the place.
Many students prefer to take on internships as part of their Dartmouth alumni travel. When you are assigned an intern, you will help the company or school with a certain project, which can be anything from helping to promote the company on campus to helping out with a fundraising campaign.
The other thing that some students love doing is traveling to foreign countries. If you are interested in taking this type of trip you need to plan early. Because many international internships require a short notice, you want to make sure that you make arrangements in advance so that you can book your trip in advance. This can be done by contacting the student organizations at the university, contacting the International Student Services office and speaking to travel coordinators on campus.
You should also take the time to find out what types of accommodations are available for the type of travel you want. You may also want to look into the costs for accommodations and compare them with what you would pay in the United States.
If you are a member of the alumni of Dartmouth, you will want to join as many groups and activities as you can. The group travels not only gives the students an opportunity to experience new and different things but it also gives the alumni a chance to meet new friends. You will find it very interesting to travel around the world while taking the same classes that you have taken at Dartmouth College.
A few years ago, I did a group trip with my fellow alumni and I had never traveled before so I was a little apprehensive. I asked for help from the members of our group so that I would feel confident that I could take care of everything and make sure that the trip went as smoothly as possible.
By being part of the group leader I was able to give each person the advice that they needed so that they could ensure that everything went as smoothly as possible. After going on my first trip I know that I will want to make it a point to take one for myself whenever possible. I hope that you enjoy your time while you are on your travels.
