Are there really weather in San Juan Puerto Rico to be concerned about? The answer is a resounding “yes.” As the only American territory in the Western Hemisphere, and the second largest city in the nation (after New York), San Juan Puerto Rico has always been a tropical weather hub. From the days when Spanish Conquistadors first brought large canals and water to this island, to the devastating hurricanes that buffet the island during hurricane season, San Juan has soaked its way into American history. Whether you’re a history buff who wants to soak up some of the history or a nature lover who wants to see the changing of the seasons, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy on any day of the year.

If you’re looking for a place to go during hurricane season, the best destination is San Juan Puerto Rico itself. Even during the main part of hurricane season, many of the island’s most beautiful beaches remain open for business. If you have a family that likes to spend time on the beach, the beautiful Playa del Carmen beach on the north end of the island is a great place to head while you prepare for the upcoming hurricane season. Playa del Carmen is not only the most beautiful beach on the island but it is also the widest, too, so you can expect plenty of fun in the sun no matter what the weather forecast may say.

But other than just beaches, San Juan Puerto Rico has much to offer outdoors enthusiasts as well. Because the island is a territory of the United States, and a major distribution point for goods headed to the mainland, it is important that Americans traveling to the island to do their part to help protect the island’s ecosystems. The San Juan Zoo is one great example of this. Located in the north end of town, the zoo offers many of the same animal exhibits you’ll find elsewhere in the region, including several species native to the Western Hemisphere.

In terms of the weather in San Juan Puerto Rico, there is generally good weather during the hurricane season. Summers (the best times to visit) are usually mild with average temperatures around 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The winter months, however, are much colder with temperatures dropping below freezing for extended periods of time. As such, the San Juan Puerto Rico weather is often less than perfect – although it rarely gets very hot or humid. Winters are a bit more bearish with daytime temperatures hovering near the freezing mark, but spring is back with temperatures in the mid-teens.

In terms of how you can actually enjoy the weather in San Juan Puerto Rico, the key is to be aware of your water preferences. For example, some local Puerto Rican locals make the mistake of thinking that the only water they need to drink is clean, purified tap water. While this may be true in many cases, you should be aware that a variety of lakes, streams, and rivers on the island can still provide you with a full range of water options throughout the day. And because of the island’s great water supply, these water sources tend to stay relatively clean, fresh, and full of nutrients – making them perfect spots to enjoy outdoor activities like swimming, boating, and water skiing.

In terms of eating during the island’s warm weather, Puerto Rico’s culinary offerings are some of the best on the island. Puerto Rico’s many restaurants offer a wide range of dishes with a variety of textures and tastes. Grilled meats are a staple of many dishes, but you’ll also find a lot of seafood, fruits, vegetables, and meat dishes. You can even find vegan and vegetarian options that are both tasty and nutritious. With its warm climate, there is little doubt that you will be able to experience tropical weather in San Juan Puerto Rico. All you have to do is to plan what you want to eat and where you want to go.
